THE CARREER

As he himself declared in an interview. As a child he suffered from asthma and could not play many sports, so he chose the shot put.

After graduation, Rick Zumwalt entered the military and here he met the arm wrestling. After his first meeting, he fell in love with this sport to the point of choosing it as a job. His measurements helped make him a champion 193 cm, for 135 kg and a 60 cm bicep. Thanks to the help of his staff he became world champion in arm wrestling five times by defeating some of the strongest athletes of the time. Unfortunately, however, at that time he could not do without alcohol but managed to quit in 1985 and then began a path of awareness towards those who had the same problem. 




OVER THE TOP AND OTHER FILMS

In 1985 his consecration in Hollywood arrives thanks to Over The Top. As he himself declared at the beginning he had to do a simple part as an extra but then, after the wrestler gave up Big John Studd became the main antagonist even though he was asked to shave his head (rumor has it for $ 10000) a look that he will keep for life. 

After Over the Top he starred in other films, especially in Batman the return where he fights Michael Keaton in this scene.

THE CIRQUE DU SOLEIL

In 1994, Zumwalt joined some Cirque du Soleil shows, performing mainly in bending iron bars by force. At first it was a bit discerning as he claimed.

When the head of the circus proposed it to me, I replied: 'You're out of your mind.' I said: "I am 42 years old". I said: 'Absolutely not. I think the stage scares me. '"...




THE LAST YEARS AND DEATH

In his later years, he became an active member of his community and spent a lot of time serving others suffering from alcohol and drug abuse.
According to his ex-wife, he died on the morning of March 19, 2003 of a heart attack.
