The extraordinary career of a world icon of cinema

How do you summarize in a few sentences a career like that of Sophia Loren, an artist who has entered the history of cinema?

It was directed by the greatest Italian directors such as Vittorio De Sica, Mario Monicelli e Ettore Scola and foreigners like Robert Altman e Charlie Chaplin, and worked alongside actors such as Marcello Mastroianni, Marlon Brando, Cary Grant.

These few notes are enough to have a precise picture of Sophia Loren's artistic dimension.

It would be even more difficult to name the most beautiful films in which she starred, because there are many, too many and we would risk forgetting some masterpieces and it would be unforgivable.

At most, if someone asked me the question: What are the three films starring Sophia Loren that are unforgettable to you? In that case, my answer would be as follows:

An Italian symbol in the world

For Sophia Loren the cinematic perimeter is too limiting and limiting.

We are talking about a character who, thanks to cinema, has become a world star, and who, at the same time, is universally recognized as an Italian symbol, for his style, his elegance, his eternal beauty.

We find his photos hanging on the walls of the most disparate places, his image is even printed on the pizza boxes for take-away, next to the tricolor boot and the Vespa. An Icon, a Symbol, in Myth that does not know the wear and tear of time.

Thanks to Edoardo Ponti for bringing his mother Sophia back to the scene, for assigning her a role worthy of her crystalline talent and for making us enjoy a little more of CINEMA written in capital letters, even if still sitting on the sofa at home.

Sophia Loren in her career has won two Oscars:

1960: The ciociara, film directed by Vittorio De Sica

1991: To career
