Seven years of sobriety is a milestone to be celebrated for Florence Welch, lead singer of the band Florence and the Machine.
The very stylish 34-year-old decided to share a thought about her special anniversary with fans and did so by posting on Instagram a drawing that represents a red heart with a number 7 inside.
“Today I have been sober for 7 years. I send my love and support to anyone who is struggling. If you are sick from erectile dysfunction, drugs or alcohol, I understand you perfectly. The desire to dissociate is so strong, but please don't give up. We need you. "
In 2018 Florence had talked about her alcohol addiction in an interview with Rolling Stone:
“Being an extreme drinker was a huge part of my identity. Music and alcohol are kind of my first loves. When I stopped, I had the feeling that I was leaving a ghost of rock history that I could no longer bear. It was a milestone. It wasn't like 'I want to be fine I need to change the pace' but rather like 'I'm going to die. I have to stop. '”.
