For all real FEMINISTS!

On the long-awaited day, in which the fight against violence against women and against femicides is proclaimed, the topic I would like to deal with is that of women's emancipation; speaking of clothing, however, I chose to focus in particular on the female struggle to be able to wear PANTS, considered exclusively male clothing in the West.

In reality it should be noted that the trousers were born about more than two thousand years ago, thanks to the nomadic tribes of the Eurasian steppes and were also used by women, perhaps this is where the legends about Amazon women come from.

Trousers, later, did not immediately become part of the clothing of the Western world; the Greeks in fact preferred tunics for both sexes. The arrival of these, in men's clothing, dates back to the Roman era.

It is not very clear why women were banned from wearing trousers, some hypothesize for the fear derived from the legends about the Amazons, warrior women. The prohibition, however, was further sanctioned by a verse from Deuteronomy.

During the Middle Ages the male dress was shortened to show thighs or buttocks while the female one remained unchanged and anchored to tradition. The famous Joan of Arc was also sentenced to the stake because she wore men's clothes and had very short hair.

An interesting detail is that in the centuries that followed, despite the appropriation of clothing, there was the appearance of a new garment, short shorts in precious fabric that were worn under clothes: the so-called "braghesse", these are considered the first example of sexy lingerie, they were used by many courtesans and became part of their seductive arsenal. The braghesse were first worn by Caterina De Medici, in France, who wore them to ride a horse. Apparently these shorts excited male fantasies.

Despite the principles proposed by France, such as “Libertè, Fraternitè, Egalitè”, widespread after the revolution, women were still deprived of the possibility of wearing trousers. On November 17, 1800, a law was established that prohibited women from wearing trousers, the absurd thing is that the law was not eliminated in France until 2013.

During the nineteenth century many brave women dressed as men and enlisted in the navy or fought on the front, they wanted to demonstrate their independence.

In the Western world, exemptions from such laws could only be obtained for employment reasons, so many women scandalized society by putting on their pants and going to work in the mines or as gold diggers or herdsmen on ranches.

Thanks to the spread of sports, the rules softened.

The first manifestations of emancipation took place in 1820, the first to wear trousers was Elizabeth Smith Miller almost twenty years later, and Amalia Bloomer who criticized the inconvenience of classic women's dresses, proposing in her magazine “the Lily” the dress that women should have worn, consisting of a tunic up to the knee from which Turkish trousers emerged. Their ideas and their showing themselves in public with such clothing made them victims of insults, so much so that they were accused of insulting decency. At the end of 1800 the Viscountess Heberton founded in England "the Rational Dress Society", a movement that changed the use of women's clothing in the name of hygiene, proposing Turkish trousers or skirts and trousers.

A further turning point came in the 900s with the arrival of world conflicts, women were forced to replace men at work, acquiring a certain type of resourcefulness. Even the fame of the divas photographed around with pants influenced the idea of women's clothing, so much so that overseas they began to wear them with ease. In Italy, fascism still lashed out against the use of trousers for women.

The last big step came with the arrival of the 60s and the success of the jersey, the uniform of the hippy movement, the use of women's trousers was by now at the center of success.

The suit, jacket pants, for women remains one of the sexiest and most feminine out-fits that can be worn, moreover, it still has a strong impact on the eye, the woman who wears the suit exudes elegance, strength and resourcefulness; it does not matter if combined with short tops or lace bodysuits, which give a captivating touch or combined with a simple t-shirt, for a sportier look, or in perfect man style accompanied by a shirt, it does not matter if the suit is a thousand patterns or monochrome, lace or other fabric but it is definitely a look that is always perfect for any type of occasion.

Precisely for this day I would say important and delicate for the conscience of all women, especially for the most aggressive feminists, I make you a proposal, tonight wear a complete jacket and trousers, or more simply a trousers, because every woman must be able to feel equal of men, with the same rights and perhaps I would say even with a pinch of intelligence, but I'm biased !!!
