Joker: Folie à deu, Todd Phillips confirms the sequel.
A few days ago Matthew belloni in his newsletter he had spread the news about a possible sequel to Todd Phillips' masterpiece Joker. Confirmed by the director himself with the publication of a post on Instagram showing the cover of the script with the title of Joker: Folie à deu and the lead actor Joaquin Phoenix intent on reading it.
Recall that with the first chapter of the Joker saga, Joaquin Phoenix took home the Academy Award for Best Actor and with him also the Icelandic cellist Hildur Guðnadóttir which won the Oscar for Best Score. The first Joker movie in 2019 was the film that had the most Academy Award nominations, 11 nominations, and is the most profitable cinecomix ever made.
The Joker title: Folie à deu
The title Folie à deau refers to a particular psychiatric syndrome which as described in Wikipedia:
“Shared psychotic disorder or folie à deux (literally, 'madness shared by two') is a rare psychiatric syndrome in which a symptom of psychosis (often a delusional, paranoid belief) is passed on from one individual to another.
The same syndrome shared by more than two people can be called folie à trois, folie à quatre, folie à famille or even folie à plusieurs (folly of many).
The disorder was discovered in 1877 by French psychiatrists Ernest-Charles Lasègue and Jean-Pierre Falret; for this reason it is also known as Lasègue-Falret syndrome. "
We specify that Todd Phillips' version of Joker has nothing to do with the totally different representation he gave us Matt Reeves in the last scene of The Batman played by Barry keoghan.
While waiting to see him again in the role of Arthur Fleck and his alter ego so loved by critics, we remember that Joaquin Phoenix was also involved in the filming of the Ridley Scott biopic 'Napoleon'.
