Well before Harry and Meghan, there have been other royals who have decided to leave their beloved British land to seek new stability in the United States. And often the reasons for deciding to leave the royal family are not characterized by a negative event as in the case of the Dukes of Sussex. These are Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor and the reasons are very different.
British Royal America: why did Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor move?
Lord Frederik Windsor has appeared many times on the famous balcony of the royals. He is in fact the only son of the prince Michael of Kent, first cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II. In 2009 he married British actress Sophie Winkleman with whom he has two daughters, Maud and Isabella. After their wedding, the couple decided to move in California so that Sophie could continue her acting career. Despite moving to the UK permanently, Frederick and Sophie were notably a royal couple who split their time between their lives in the UK and abroad.

Lady Frederik Windsor has taken part in many official events of the Royal Family, including the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and her funeral three months later. Sophie is a familiar face on the small screen, where she has played many characters including Zoey in the sitcom Two men and a half or even the adult version of Susan in the Chronicles of Narnia. The actress attended theUniversity of Cambridge and it is here that she met her husband Lord Frederik Windsor.

Lord Frederick Windsor wife: what is their relationship with the Royal Family?
She, unlike others, has never shown difficulty in being married to a member of the royal family. Indeed, she has always praised her relationship with the Royal Family. In a 2020 interview with the The Times she said: “I have been welcomed with open arms from all of them. I have not had a single bad experience. The Queen, Prince Charles and William are wonderful. Everyone always is take care of me". It would seem that for someone, after all, life as a royal isn't so bad.
