So Nikola Tesla had predicted the smartphone
The scientist imagined a world in which it was possible to eliminate distances thanks to a pocket object: reread today, his words sound strangely prophetic.
The work of Nikola Tesla, one of the greatest scientists of all time, father of electromagnetic studies and "wizard of electricity", is considered pioneering in many ways.
In an interview released in 1926 to US reporter John B. Kennedy, it referred to a device that strikingly resembles today's smartphones. Here is the extract, taken from Time:
“When wireless telephony is perfectly applied, the whole Earth will turn into a huge brain, which it actually is, and all things will be part of a real, pulsating whole. We will be able to communicate with each other instantly, regardless of distance.
Not only that, but through television and telephony we will be able to see and feel exactly as if we were face to face, even if thousands of kilometers away; and the tools that will allow us to do this will be incredibly simple, compared to the phone we use now. A man will be able to keep them in his vest pocket. "
These words, reread today, seem to anticipate not only the advent of smartphones, but also that of the Internet, Skype, FaceTime and all the technologies with which we can eliminate distances.
TRUE EQUALITY.
In the same interview, Tesla also expressed himself on the future of the female condition,
with words of extreme foresight:
"This battle towards gender equality will lead to a new order, in which women will be superior. Not in the superficial physical imitation of man, women will first demonstrate their equality and then their superiority, but in the awakening of the female intellect."
Words that demonstrate, once again, the visionary spirit of the famous inventor, cited as an inspiration by some today's entrepreneurs such as Elon Musk (who also borrowed the name from Tesla for his car company) or by the co-founder of Google Larry Page
